The Gardian is a
merchant 4 masted Carrack of approx. 60 tonnes with up to 40 crew
members.
Her berth is Port Innilgard. She is a Privateer for the Crown of
Lochac.
Carracks were popular from the mid-1400's and into in the mid 1500's
and were the forerunners of the well-known Galleons. One of the most
famous Carracks was the Mary Rose - with 4 masts. Other famous
Carracks were the Ships of Magellan (2 masted).
The Gardian is a
privateer from the 1540's (of non-Spanish design) and this was the
principle reason for choosing a carrack.
