CASA VIOLA - EVENTS ATTENDED IN 2007

Newcomers Feast, March 
This annual event is the first event in  Innilgard, run by the College of Blessed Herman, welcoming the Newcomers to the College and Barony. This year, we had to deal with a 37degC heat day!

Shipwreck Revel, April, 2007
We have been shipwrecked! Fortunately we were run aground in Innilgard waters.... There were about 16-20 of us who made it to land, during the course of the evening...

Torlyon Winter Fest, June, 2007
When in Canberra for a wedding, we travelled to Torlyon (our first visit , if you dont count Festival) for the Winter Feast, to farewell  Baldwin the Wanderer who is moving to the Crescent Isles (NZ). We travelled with Belinda and her husband and Mistress Marit. The Baron and Baroness of Politarchopolis was in attendance.

Innilgard Winter Collegium August, 2007
This year's Collegium was again held at The Paddocks. The two day event hosted classes on sewing, tentmaking, Dark Ages, Florentine Renaissance, Cooking, Brewing, Rapier, Armour  and more! For those who would like a copy of (most) of the notes on CD (with money raised going to A&S in Innilgard), please contact me.
Katerina taught a class on possible patterns for 16th C Florentine sottana (dress) and sewing techniques of the time. Lucrezia also attended on Saturday. (in gold veil) here seen in Lady Aliena's class on sewing.

First Mate's Tourney. 1st September, 2007.
This is a annual auction rapier tourney that is held to find the First Mate of the GARDIAN. This year we had 5 fighters vying for the honour.
There was a good turnout of spectators to watch the folly... I mean fighting! Thank you to all those who braved the beautiful mild weather and glorious sunshine.
There was some good rapier fighting, both showing youth and speed win out ... but also that age and cunning can too. There were a few Baronial whims... you had to be there! Thanks to all the gentles who donated prizes for the auction tourney. Vicontessa Lucrezia Lorenz, Lady Lia Morosini, Lady Fionndhair and some of our household members also...This year's First Mate is Lord Gregory Tortouse de Sloleye.(though Lord Aldwin was highly commended for his loyalty to the ship and his quick despatch of 'those scurvy dogs'.) The fighters learnt about the difference of fighting on a docked ship and a ship that has set sail...
and then there were those fighters who got into the 'rum' and got 'blind drunk'.... There was an A&S competition run, being that of 'Pirates booty!".

The 'eric' was in the shape of a ship, with a set of boxes to make a 'safe' cabin in case of accidents (the ship did almost sink once when the cabin was destoyed) Vicontessa Lucrezia ran the auction for me, as I was feeling unwell still. Morgan had fun playing.

Foundation Day Picnic
This is an annual picnic, usually the last Sunday in October. It celebrates the foundation of the Barony. This year most of Casa Viola attended.Mistress Aislinn , Master Tovye, La Signora Onorata Katerina, Lord Dafydd and  Lord William attended along with many Innilgardians (it was a good turnout this year). Vicountessa Lucrezia is in Marocco for a year.

Royal Visit Feast. 24th November, 2007
The Barony of Innilgard was honoured to host  King Hugh and Queen Therasa for both tourneys and Feast. Household members La Signora Onorata Katerina da Brescia, Lord Dafydd Wallraven and Lord William Forester de Blacwode attended.
